Carpenters - Discography - 320kbps

With their light, airy melodies and meticulously crafted, clean arrangements that appealed to a variety of audiences, the Carpenters stood in direct contrast to the excessive, gaudy pop/rock of the '70s. Yet, they became one of the most popular artists of the decade, winning four Grammy Awards, and scoring 12 Top Ten hits, and three number one singles, including the classic "(They Long to Be) Close to You" off 1970's Close to You. Karen Carpenter's calm, pretty voice was the most distinctive element of their music, settling in perfectly amidst the precise, lush arrangements provided by her brother Richard. Though their popularity began to fade as the '70s progressed, the duo continued to make music together until Karen's tragic death in 1983.

VA - Time Life Guitar Rock 60's to 90's

Time Life Guitar Rock

The Time-Life Guitar Rock series has been one of the most popular sets that Time-Life ever issued. Guitar Rock collects original recordings from an array of songs that feature memorable guitar riffs, recorded mainly in the '70s.

Guitar Rock was a 27-volume series issued by Time-Life during the mid-1990s, spotlighting rock music—in particular, hard rock, classic and album-oriented rock of the 1960s through early 1990s. "Guitar Rock" was first issued in 1993, although two "prototype" volumes that are considered to be part of the series were issued beforehand. Those albums were titled Guitar Rock (issued as a two-CD set in 1990) and Guitar Rock Monsters (1992, also as a two-CD set). The original Guitar Rock volume was the only one known to be available as a vinyl album. The first volume in the series proper was issued in the summer of 1993 and titled Guitar Rock: 1974-1975. New volumes continued to be issued through 1996, the final one being a volume covering rock from the first half of the 1990s. Two additional volumes, spotlighting power ballads and edgier pop music of the 1980s, were released in 1999. Time-Life continued to offer "Guitar Rock" through the mid-2000s (decade), after which it was replaced by other series.

As with many of Time-Life Records' multi-volume releases, the volumes were not issued in a logical, sequential order by date or era of the subject.

Harpers Bizarre - Discography

Harpers Bizarre - Discography

The eclectic pop group Harper's Bizarre was formed in Santa Cruz, CA, in 1963 by Ted Templeman (born October 24, 1944; Santa Cruz, CA) (vocals, drums, trumpet), Dickie Scoppettone (born July 5, 1945; Santa Cruz, CA) (guitar, vocals), Eddie James (born Santa Cruz, CA) (guitar, vocals), and Dick Yount (b. January 9, 1943) (guitar, bass, drums). John Peterson (b. January 8, 1945; San Francisco, CA) (drums) joined in 1966. After gaining attention as the surf-oriented Tikis in San Francisco, they were signed to Warner Bros. by producer Lenny Waronker, and they scored one of the sunniest hit singles of the 1967 Summer of Love with a version of Paul Simon's "The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)." Their brand of wistful, Roaring '20s pop enjoyed only a brief vogue, roughly from late 1966 to mid-1967, but they managed to get a few more minor chart singles -- notably Van Dyke Parks' "Come to the Sunshine" and covers of "Anything Goes" and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" -- and released four albums before disbanding in 1970. Templeman went on to become one of Warner Bros.' primary staff producers. As Time Goes By (1976) marked a partial reunion of the group.

Al Green

Reverend Albert Green (born April 13 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas) is an American Grammy award winning soul and gospel singer who enjoyed great popularity in the 70s with hit singles such as "Let's Stay Together", Tired of Being Alone", and "You Oughta Be With Me". Al has boasted a voice capable of both fluid high streams of sugar and deep south growls and rasps. Such beautiful songs be Al and such a lovely voice.

Guy Mitchell - Discography - 320kbps

Guy Mitchell Discography

Born: February 22, 1927 - Died: July 1, 1999
To some listeners, the name Guy Mitchell evokes contempt -- as the singer whose pop-styled covers of "Singin' the Blues" and "Knee Deep in the Blues" cut the legs out from under Marty Robbins' country-styled original renditions. To others, Mitchell evokes the last period of America's innocence, the mid-'50s, when he periodically ascended the pop charts in the company of singers like Frankie Laine. Mitchell was all of those things and more, in some ways a trail-blazer -- he was the first major recording artist whose career was crafted in the studio, by a record company, and sold to the public by way of records and the radio, not concerts. He was the precursor to the late-'50s teen idols crafted by the industry as an alternative to the burgeoning success of rock & roll. In contrast to some of the younger male singing idols of that era, however, Mitchell had a genuinely good voice as his starting point in music.

He was born Al Cernick in Detroit in 1927, into a Yugoslavian immigrant family whose members sang as often as possible, for their own pleasure. He made his first appearance as a singer at age three, at a wedding reception. The Cernick family moved across the country in search of a place they liked, before reaching Los Angeles in 1938. He was spotted by a talent scout and signed up as a child performer at Warner Bros. Studios that same year, and managed to vocally project over a studio-controlled radio station.
