Kevin Johnson [Aust] - Discography

 KEVIN JOHNSON DISCOGRAPHY

Australian singer/songwriter, born 1943 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.

Australian singer-songwriter Johnson is best remembered for his sole commercial hit, ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll (I Gave You The Best Years Of My Life)’. Originally recorded in 1973 for Mainstream Records in his native territory, it gradually picked up airplay until in 1975 it was covered by Mac Davis, who took it into the Billboard Top 20 in the US. In consequence Jonathan King leased Johnson’s original version to his own UK Records label and was rewarded with a Top 30 success (number 23). It proved to be the artist’s only success and has not subsequently been anthologised.

Thank you so much Ozzieguy, you have made my day! Up until today I couldn't find any Kevin Johnson music (with the exception of the 1979 Best of album). I still have a worn out vinyl copy of his 1974 Rock N' Roll etc. album, but what you have shared with us today is by far the best collection of Kevin's music I have ever come across. You are a champion bloke, and I wish you well in everything you do!

Thank you Shemoosa.
I have had the albums for several years now, my studio is loaded with LPs and CDs and it is nice to hear that people are enjoying my sharing of my many dollars of purchased music.
Best Wishes

Hi,

I just downloaded Kevin's Night Rider album (thanks for that BTW), but the last track, #10, is some disco track certainly not Kevin Johnson?

Checking on Discogs.com, the song should be "Tonight (I'll Be Part Of The Crowd)" but on the download it is a song called "Tonight Tonight" & as mentioned some dance tune.

Many thanks,
Nick

Sorry Nick!

No worries Mr Ozzieguy. Someone's invaded poor Kev!!

Thanks for all the work though!!

Cheers from,
Nick

Hey Mr Oz, with a bit of detective work I've found that missing last track off Kev's Night Rider.

Here's a Sendspace Link for you, if you want to replace the dud track with the real one:

Hi Mr OzzieGuy,

Sadly but that Kevin Johnson "The Rest of Your Life" album you hav there, is not Kevin Johnson at all!

Some completely different artist. Sounds like some American country type singer perhaps. Definitely not ol' Kev!!

Best from EKJFN (Expert Kevin Johnson Finder Nick)

Hi again Mr Oz Zie Guy,

I've been trying to find another copy of Kevin Johnson's The Rest of Your Life album, but sadly no luck, do you have a correct copy yourself??

Best wishes & many thanks from,
Nick

Hey Mr Oz Zie Guy,

Have finally gotten to the answer to the "Kev" mystery, there is no such album by Australian singer Kevin Johnson called "The Rest of Your Life", its another guy called 'Kevin Johnson', a Washington DC singer/guitarist apparently, here it below on discogs. So mystery solved! Not OZ Kev, but US Kev!!

Thank you Nick, yes you are correct. I do have more of the US albums, I certainly added it wrong.
I will remove it soon.
