Nanci Griffith - Discography

NANCI GRIFFITH

Straddling the fine line between folk and country music, Nanci Griffith has become as well-known for her brilliant, confessional songwriting as her beautiful voice. A self-styled "folkabilly" singer, Griffith began as a kindergarten teacher and occasional folksinger. The country scene took her to heart in the mid-'80s, giving her a reputation as a quality songwriter through hit covers of Griffith's songs by Kathy Mattea and Suzy Bogguss. Finding no luck with commercial country radio however, Griffith recorded several pop-oriented albums and then returned to her folk roots by the mid-'90s.

Thanks Ozzieguy for the Nanci collection. I have most of these but a couple I didn't. A very underrated artist with a magical voice and an excellent songwriter. I saw her on her only Australian tour a few years back (2012 I think?). She was sublime and very humble. A shame she doesn't perform anymore

Hello Marty,
Yes mate I agree, she has a great voice and I have always loved listening to her. Mind you my brain loves music and has had for a LONG time.

I had heard Nanci Griffith was ill but was still surprised to hear of her passing. I remember her at the Vancouver Folk Festival. Singing, telling her stories as the sun set. Thanks for filling in the discography. Very much appreciated.
