Maureen McGovern
Maureen McGovern was a secretary when she was hired by Russ Regan to sing the theme from the movie The Poseidon Adventure in 1973. It was a #1 hit. The following year, McGovern sang the theme from The Towering Inferno, "We May Never Love Like This Again," which was not a hit, though it did win an Academy Award. McGovern went on to other movie themes, then distanced herself from such work, appearing on Broadway in The Pirates of Penzance. She built a reputation as a sophisticated pop singer to the point that she was able to headline at Carnegie Hall by the '90s, singing show music and standards by George Gershwin and other songwriters.

Wow. Fantastic
GRACIAS GRACIAS GRACIAS TOTAL
I don't suppose you have her song "Different Worlds" available in a higher fidelity format, such as lossless FLAC?
My elderly parents had a CD made something like 20 years ago that had this song on it, but the CD recently got damaged. I was able to retrieve lossless copies of every single other song that was on the damaged disc in order to burn a new disc, but I simply seem to not be able to find a lossless copy of the song "Different Worlds" anywhere on the internet...

In order to burn a new disc, I was able to source lossless copies of every single song that was on the damaged disc...except for "Different Worlds" which I cannot seem to find anywhere on the internet in a lossless format.
(sadly, even using youtube-dl to download the Opus audio stream of "Different Worlds" from http://youtu.be/j5QFRISDdo0 gives a higher fidelity recording than the MP3 provided here as confirmed via a spectrogram)
Gah, talk about comment bugginess - I didn't even realize I had double-posted on here! Now it's starting to make me look like a spammer, which is something nobody wants.
I've never had problems with making comments on blogger in the past decade on other blogspot blogs, so I'm unsure why I'm having so many issues now...
Hi Rin Tohsaka
All good, I am sure you will sort it out.

The disaster movie lady. Beautiful, strong voice. Like Celine Dion but with depth to match the range.
